Glass

Glass is another historically significant artistic material. Traditional stained glass piece together chards using copper and lead. Recent developments have made it easy to fuse pieces large and small without needing to edge each piece and then solder the edges. I found this fusing technique liberating. By varying the amount of heat, one can achieve a variety of results. You can make sculptures capitalizing on the refractive nature of glass, trap plant materials between glass, and employ all the painting techniques ever developed.
