"Nature is my inspiration. It is glorious and full of lessons for us."

Cha-Rie Tang is a multi-disciplinary artist working mainly in the field of ceramic tiles and fused glass. As the founder of the renowned Pasadena Craftsman Tile, in production since 2000, Tang has created tile installations for homes in every state in the nation, as well as abroad. Her public art commissions can be found in some of Southern California's most notable public institutions including the Los Angeles County Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Los Angeles Public Library at Exposition Park, Huntington Gardens, Disney Grand California Hotel, LA Metro (Monrovia Gold Line stop).

Her artistic path began in architecture. Tang notes, "I studied at MIT and envisioned myself improving the world through design. I tried my hand at many arts and crafts from silkscreening to tie dying to card and poster designs. Then a friend stumbled across some original Ernest Batchelder plaster molds buried in his yard. It was when I decided to concentrate on ceramic tiles and glass, "permanent" materials, that I flourished. I was able to do useful installations public and private, and tap into people's wish for livable and inspiring environments. I dare say I am improving the world through design."

Moved by the natural world, Tang says"...when inspiration sparks, I branch out and experiment with new materials and processes." Along with a B.S from MIT, Tang received a M.Arch from The University of Colorado Boulder.
